Pakistan is one of the largest producers of fresh fruits and vegetables and it’s exports play an important role in the country’s economy- influencing its level of economic growth. The country is known for it’s favourable agro-climatic condition which allows it to produce a wide variety of tropical and sub-tropical fruits and vegetables. Some of the major fruits and vegetables produced are mangoes, oranges, apples, onions, tomatoes, carrots and watermelons. Statistics show that onions, tomatoes, and carrots together make up around 58% of the gross vegetable production in Pakistan, while mangoes and oranges contribute to about 45%.
